Fifth Harmony Open Up About THAT VMAs Stunt

Aside from Taylor Swift's snake-filled Look What You Made Me Do video clip debut, Fifth Harmony's jaw-dropping stunt was the shadiest thing to go down at this year's VMAs.

In case you missed it, the band - who, as you're aware, recently became a four-piece - started their performance of Down with five members on stage before the person posing as ex-member Camila Cabello was violently yanked away.

The move stands in stark contrast to everything the girls have said so far about Cabello's sudden departure; even as recently as 10 days ago they were refusing to be drawn on making any negative comments about the issue.

But now they've explained what their MTV performance really meant, telling Good Morning America that they were sending a message.

"We get asked all the time if we're getting a fifth member and wanted to show the world in an artistic way that hey, the four of us are Fifth Harmony and we're stronger and better than we've ever been," Ally said.

"And honestly it was such a monumental moment for us.

"We were at the VMAs, we had rain, we had the splits. We had a mic drop."

And what mic drop it was; check out the beginning of the girls' performance in the clip above.
