Katy Perry Has FINALLY Explained What Her & Taylor's Beef Is
There are three things certain in life: Death, taxes, and Katy Perry and Taylor Swift throwing shade at each other.
And since Katy has a new album and is back on the promotional trail, the whole drama has been dragged up once more, although she has, until now, avoided talking directly about it.
Then James Corden asked her straight-up what the f*ck was going on during Monday’s Carpool Karaoke – and Katy went off.
“It’s about backing dancers,” the 32-year-old exasperatedly explained. “It’s so crazy!
“OK, so there are three backing dancers that went on tour with her tour, right? And they asked me before they went on tour if they could go, and I was like, ‘Yeah of course! I’m not on a record cycle! Get the work! She’s great!
“’But I will be on a record cycle in about a year, so be sure to put a 30-day contingency in your contract so you can get out if you want to join me when I say I’m going back on.’”
When that time came around, Katy says, she reached out to the dancers, who tried to talk to Taylor’s management.
“And they got fired,” she continued. “And I tried to talk to her about it, and she wouldn’t speak to me.”
When Corden gasped – along with the rest of the audience – Katy continued to defend herself.
“I do the right thing anytime it feels like a fumble,” the Swish Swish singer said. “And it was a full shutdown.
“And then she writes a song about me! And I’m like, ‘Oh, cool, cool, cool. That’s how you wanna deal with it? Karma.’”
Followed by Katy writing a song about Taylor. Obviously.
OK, are we done now? Can we all get over it? We’re so tired.
