People Are PISSED At Selena Gomez's New Movie Role

Selena Gomez has been on a one-woman mission to shed her Disney image over the last few months and her latest movie role may just do it once and for all.

But fans are not happy about it and have already taken to Twitter to slam the 25-year-old after news broke that she'd signed on to work with controversial director Woody Allen.

The issue is that Allen has been accused of sexually abusing his adopted daughter when she was seven years old; while the award-winning director has always denied the allegations, the rumours have never quite gone away.

"I've said everything I have to say about the whole situation in The New York Times," Allen said at the Cannes Film Festival in 2016. "I have moved on. I never think about it. I work and do my movies.

Considering that Gomez was so determined to address the topic of rape in much-talked about 13 Reasons Why, though, it seems a strange move for the young actor.

Despite Allen never having been convicted of rape or sexual abuse, Gomez's followers have called her out for her decision.

Not much is known about the as-yet unnamed project, which will co-star Elle Fanning and Timothée Chalamet and will be released with Amazon Production.
