6 Must-See Sights In The Blue Mountains
Travelling overseas is high on most people’s list of aspirations but so often, we forget that there are SO many incredible places to see and experience in our own backyards. In NSW, The Blue Mountains is a destination full of stunning scenery, and awesome activities. Here are just 6 of the top things to do there…
THE THREE SISTERS
We can’t mention The Blue Mountains without mentioning their most famous landmark. The Three Sisters are a rock formation located at Echo Point, Katoomba. Legend has it, the rock formation represents three Aboriginal sisters who were turned to stone. Visit during the day to see the stunning formation in the sunlight, or visit after dark as they are floodlit until 11pm.
Wentworth Falls is the perfect place to visit if you love adventure, bushwalks and hidden treasures. The 1.4km return track will take you through Fletchers lookout where you’ll see panoramic views of the grand valley, before reaching the Wentworth Falls waterfall (which is the perfect Instagram op!).
THE GIANT STAIRWAY
Just as the name suggests, The Blue Mountain’s Giant Stairway is a walkway (with a heap of stairs) that will take you on a scenic tour through Jamison Valley from Echo Point to Scenic World in the National Park. It’s 4.7km long one-way so it’s not for the faint-hearted but the walk sure is worth it!
BILPIN CIDER COMPANY
Not just for over-18’s the Bilpin Cider Company serves both alcoholic and non-alcoholic ciders! With alpacas on site, cider tasting, a veggie garden and beautiful scenery, it’s well worth a visit.
EVERGLADES HOUSE & GARDENS
This spectacular garden is home to a 1930’s Art Deco house where you can enjoy a cup of tea while enjoying the 5.2 hectares of garden views! With European-style terraces, a reflection pool and a panoramic lookout, a day at Everglades Garden will leave you feeling refreshing and relaxed!
One of the most popular activities in The Blue Mo
untains (particularly with the kids) is the Scenic Railway. It’s the steepest passenger railway in the world and riders can customise their experience in glass-roofed carriages. The train departs every 10 minutes!
So, what are you waiting for? Book that weekend away asap!
