Fast and Furious 8 might make a pit stop in Cuba.
Universal Pictures is reportedly scouting locations on the Caribbean island for the film franchise's eighth instalment.
"Universal Pictures is currently in the process of seeking approval from the United States and Cuban governments to explore shooting a portion of the next installment of the `Fast & Furious' series in Cuba," a spokeswoman for the studio told Variety.
The flick will be the largest Hollywood film shot in Cuba which has only until recently been the subject of financial and commercial embargoes imposed by the United States.
Fast and Furious 7 grossed $US1.5 billion ($A2.12 billion) at the worldwide box office.
