Frank Ocean Is Finally Dropping New Music
A full year after teasing his new album drop, Frank Ocean is finally, officially, set to release Boys Don't Cry.
If he doesn't change his mind, of course.
An unnamed Apple exec confirmed the news to The New York Times, revealing that the album will be accompanied by a "major video" and a magazine-like publication.
It's also set to be an Apple Music exclusive, with non-Apple users expected to have to wait a further two weeks to wrap their ears around the hotly anticipated record.
Boys Don't Cry will be Ocean's third album, and his first since the Grammy Award-winning Channel Orange.
He announced the album title a full three years ago, and last year launched a website featuring an old-fashioned library check-out card with the stamp of the supposed release date: July 2015.
But July ticked by with no word from Ocean, and frustrated fans were forced to watch as the list of dates steadily grew – and were steadily crossed off – as the launch was repeatedly pushed back.
Fingers crossed one more date isn’t added to the website come Friday.
