BREAKING NEWS: Police Evacuate Circular Quay

Update: Thankfully, the package in Circular Quay has been deemed not suspicious.

The whole of Circular Quay has been evacuated today after police were made aware of a 'suspicious' looking package was found on a Sydney ferry.

Police then acted quickly, establishing an exclusion zone in the area and organising specialist police, three fire trucks and emergency response vehicles on site.

A spokesman from the NSW Police said as far as he knows, no people are currently in the vicinity of the ferry, which has now taken position at the wharves of Circular Quay.

As far as other areas that have been cordoned off, the whole of Alfred Street, which runs next to Circular Quay is off limits, and commuters are being redirected to Martin Place, Wynyard and George Street for alternative treatment.
