Dangerous ‘Bottle-Lip’ Jobs Causing Health Risks
Kylie Jenner's big lips have inspired a few women to trial at-home lip jobs, also known as "bottle lips".
A 24-year-old Aussie student Brittany Forster attempted the procedure only for it be an epic fail. The video of her swollen lips went viral.
Basically the procedure involves putting your lips into a plastic bottle and sucking the air out, causing the lips to drastically swell.
A few stories have since popped up, including Yrja's, who said of her experience, "I just wanted to try it and see what they would look like, I’ve never done it before, and I won’t be doing it again. My lips turned blue."
These stories have prompted medics to issue strict warnings against doing such things.
Cosmetic surgeon Pordiis Kjartansdottir strongly advises against it.
"I can definitely say that this would be dangerous even just to try it, and especially if somebody does it more than once."
"The lips turn blue because blood fills up and they could easily become infected and lose all sensation."
"It is a really dangerous stunt and I’d advise strongly against anybody trying it,’ she warned."
