Study Shows Watching Horror Films Can Help You Lose Weight

Think about it. You're sitting there, next to your SO, watching some scary horror flick.

You start to breathe heavily, your heart rate is rising and you begin to sweat... then BAM! You literally jump out of yo' seat!

Sound familiar? Yes, ladies and gentlemen - this sounds like exercise!

While you may swear under your breath multiple times at the person who MADE you watch the latest horror installment, you can also bow at their feet and thank them for their assistance.

A study has found that watching horror films can actually help you lose weight. For realz.

Researchers from the University of Westminster discovered that a 90-minute scary film can burn up to 113 calories... that's an entire handful of maltesers you just stuffed in your mouth or a 30-minute-walk...

"Each of the 10 films tested set pulses racing, sparking an increase in the heart rate of the case studies," Dr Richard Mackenzie from the uni told Ladbible. "

"As the pulse quickens and blood pumps around the body faster, the body experiences a surge in adrenaline.

"It is this release of fast-acting adrenaline, produced during short bursts of intense stress (or in this case, brought on by fear), which is known to lower the appetite, increase the basal metabolic rate and ultimately burn a higher level of calories."

FYI - This won't work if you are still stuffing your face with a heavenly popcorn and malteser mix, because the study was based purely on how many calories you could lose. So avoid food for this process to be effective. LOL.

With no surprises here, the original adaptation of Stephen King's It comes in at number one with the highest scare factor calorie loss.

Let's be honest, we're still having nightmares from 1990 and cannot bring ourselves to watch the new one... so it seems this method ain't for everyone, kids!
