FB Messenger Teases Unsend Feature To Save Drunk Asses
Facebook Messenger is finally rolling out what all drunky texters have been dreaming of – an unsend button.
Yep, Messenger users will get the power to retract a text from a recipient’s inbox, and its release is really, really, really soon.
But there’s a catch.
You will have only 10 minutes to recall that not-so-well-thought-out 2am ‘wyd?’ text, which means you won’t be able to edit your ancient history.
There’s also talk that the button will also leave a “tombstone” indicating a message was retracted.

Currently, Facebook Messenger users can only delete messages from their inbox and the recipient can still see the message in his/her inbox. Which defeats the whole purpose.
From the Messenger update 191.0 for iOS release notes:
“Coming soon: Remove a message from a chat thread after it's been sent. If you accidentally send the wrong photo, incorrect information, or message the wrong thread, you can easily correct it by removing the message within 10 minutes of sending it.”
Facebook will retain unsent messages for a short period of time so if they’re reported, it can review them for policy violations.
