Five Impressive Places To Take Your Dad This Father's Day

Our poor dads tend to get the short straw in a lot of ways but especially when it comes to Father’s Day.

Honestly, when is the last time you put as much effort into the first Sunday in September as you do into Mother’s Day?

Exactly. We’re guilty of it too.

Which is why we’ve rounded up five epic places to take the man who taught you how to change a tyre, who makes dumb jokes about the rips in your jeans and who still slips you the odd $20 for his special day this weekend.

The legends who let you eat for free throughout State of Origin have THE steak-and-rib combo your dad has been dreaming about. As well as those hectic portion sizes, there’s an epic kids’ menu, vegie and gluten-free options and a churros dessert that’ll make your hair curl. Plus, every booking made through here gets a special gift. Winner winner!

If your dad can’t get past an RSL dinner you can at least upgrade him. Rawsons Restaurant at Epping Club is quite honestly one of Sydney’s best hidden dining experiences; gather the whole family, book in at the Chef’s Table and tuck into a totally bespoke, Michelin-style meal. You’ll look like the best son or daughter EVER. Book here.

The cottage

We can't recommend The Cottage enough. It's as cute on the inside as it is on the outside and the food is INSANE. Plus, everything is designed to be shared which makes it the perfect place to settle in for a loud, chatty family meal. And if you happen to sample one or three of their cocktails at the same time, it's just a delicious bonus. Have a look through the menu here.

If you're freaking out about not having organised anything for Father's Day yet, take a deep breath because Kobe Jones has your back. They have three epic menu options lined up and ready for you to go: you can have an incredible private dining experience for $60, go all-out for a $79 a la carte or make it as easy as possible with a set menu for under $60. Oh, and every dad gets a free beer or Japanese whiskey. Check it out here.

Platform eighty two

There is, of course, a whole lot of sport on on Sunday afternoon and who are we to come between your dad and his footy? Which is where Platform Eighty Two come in; their INSANE breakfast options will provide both a challenge and a feast for everyone involved and you'll be home in time for kick-off. Fair warning, though, you'll probably need to be rolled home. Have a flick through their Instagram for some Father's Day-appropriate food info.

Oh, and happy Father's Day to all the dads, step-dads and single mums pulling double duty. You're the best.
