We’ve Been Making Cheese Toasties Wrong This ENTIRE Time
There's no denying that a simple cheese toastie is one of the best culinary inventions out there.
Whether it's a snack during a sick day at home, an easy dinner on a Sunday night, or just for lunch on your average weekday, a toasted cheese sanga always satisfies.
And it's not just because it's a pocket filled with delicious melted cheese, but because it's super easy and quick to make.
And like the iconic Aussie snack that it is, the recipe has been passed down from generation to generation, and so we all know that the secret to a perfect toastie is to put butter on the outside, making the bread crisp to perfection as it cooks.
So you can imagine our shock when we heard that we had actually been making our cheese toasties wrong this WHOLE TIME!! Well maybe wrong isn't the right word, but at least less perfect than they apparently could be!
Food blogger and toastie expert Tristan Lutze has come forward saying that the ingredient we've all been missing is MAYONNAISE, and not on the inside but on the OUTSIDE.
"So, if you use mayo on the outside of your toasted cheese sandwiches instead of butter, you'll get a crispier, meltier, more delicious result," he revealed in an instagram post.
He also said that mayonnaise will spread easier on pretty much any type of bread, will let it brown more evenly while toasting and burn less.
Huh, who'd have thunk it? BRB off to the kitchen to see if the cheese toastie can actually get BETTER!
