Make-up Artist's Optical Illusions Take It To The Next Level

I don't know about you but makeup artistry is not really my forte...I mean I struggle when it comes to perfecting simple winged eyeliner.

And then on the opposite end of the scale there are people like Mimi Choi who turns her makeup magic into incredible works of art.

And we're incredibly jealous of her skills!

The 31-year-old instagram sensation creates some INSANE optical illusions on both her face and hands and is able to do so with beauty products that most of us would use everyday.

Choi spoke to Allure about her makeup inspiration saying, "when I do illusions now, I draw my inspiration from my surroundings, photography, paintings and emotions. I try not to look at other makeup artist's work too much and challenge myself to produce original, unique work."

🕷 Let's take a moment and be grateful that spiders can't fly. 🙏🏼 • #SPIDER lip art using @nyxcosmetics Matte black liquid eyeliner, white eyeliner and Vivid Brights "Fire", @makeupforeverofficial @makeupforeverca flash case, and @stilacosmetics "In the Know" eyeshadow palette. Used @katvondbeauty Bow N Arrow liquid lipstick as the base. The insect on lip idea was inspired by the talented @girlgreybeauty. Thought for a long time before posting this one because I am not too happy about how it turned out -- the shading and precision is off, and I dislike how unrealistic it looks but that only means I have lots of room for improvement! 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼 #mua #makeupartist #mimichoimakeup #spidermakeup #makeup #motd #spiderlips #lipart #nyxcosmetics #makeupforever #stilasummer #stilacosmetics #3dart #handpainted #surrealism #surrealist #art #artist #drawing #spiderdrawing #spiderpainting #painting #vancouver #lips #amazingmakeupart #wakeupandmakeup #design #makeupartistsworldwide

"My main goal each time I do a new look is to beat myself from yesterday because I'm the biggest critic and competition to myself. It's gotten really hard to impress myself these days but it motivates me to keep trying and doing better," she added.

While we obviously wouldn't want to wear these looks everyday (unless you're fond of scaring your co-workers) there is definitely some inspiration to be taken for Halloween!

This is #makeup • |PANIC| For those of you who suffer silently from #anxiety and #panicattacks. That overwhelming feeling of #fear, helplessness and desperation. It's hard to breathe. You feel nauseous and dizzy. Your fingers and feet start to tingle. You are terrified. You feel like you will die. Then it subsides but comes back out of nowhere. It will get better and you will be okay. And yes Halloween is quite a while away still, but you'll probably need all the practice you can get!

Even the professional Mimi has admitted that some of her more intricate looks can take up to 5 hours for her to perfect.

You can check out some of her best pieces of art in the attached video or on her instagram @mimles.
