36-Year-Old Woman Charged With Murder Of Sydney Toddler
A woman has been charged with murder after the body of a two-year-old girl was discovered in a southwest Sydney home.
The toddler's body was found inside the Miller home at midday on Tuesday by emergency services after they were called by a concerned family friend, while the child's single mother was recovering in hospital over the weekend as the result of a car accident.
Investigators worked late into the night after declaring the house a crime scene; a post-mortem investigation is also due to be carried out, police revealed, and there were plans to speak with the little girl's relatives to piece together the chain of events.
Neighbours expressed their shock after the news broke.
"The little girl was gorgeous... dark curly hair, she was just gorgeous," Shannon Francisco said, explaining that there'd never seemed to be any trouble.
"That's why it's a big surprise for me."
A 36-year-old woman has been arrested and will appear in Penrith Local Court on Wednesday.
