Bad News For ALL Aussie Women

I don’t know about you, but when I heard that Aussie women were finally going to get some financial help when it came to their monthly menstruation.

However, opposition leader Bill Shorten has now declared that Australia cannot afford to dump the GST for tampons, as intended, as he’s seen backing down on calls for its removal.

Mr Shorten was asked on Wednesday night whether a Labor government would remove the "tax on tampons" at a forum of more than 100 undecided voters in Brisbane.

“No. I've got to say I'm not going to make promises I can't keep," he replied, saying "we can't afford" to lose the revenue gained from taxing such sanitary products.

The outrage has come over the tampon tax because women are forced to pay the GST on their products, yet condoms are GST free.

I think we can all agree that this flippin’ SUCKS for the girls, who could spend on average at least $10 a month on sanitary products, at least $120 a year, $1,800 in a standard 30-year period. Pardon the pun.

Come on government, get it TOGETHER!
