Boy Dies After Being Run Over By A Drunk Driver On Christmas

A 9-year-old boy has died in hospital after he was run over by a 24-year-old man who was drink driving a truck on Christmas Day.

Josiah Sisson, the son of a pastor, was hit by a utility truck while looking at Christmas lights with his brother, just around the corner from his Brisbane home.

The truck allegedly veered off the road and ran over him on Sunday night.

Josiah was taken to Lady Cliento Children’s Hospital in a critical condition, before he passed away on Tuesday evening, after his family made the heartbreaking decision to turn off his life support.

His family made a statement thanking the hospital and community for their support, and said they “believe in the power of forgiveness” after the tragedy.

“[Josiah's family] believe in the power of forgiveness and they're now processing this and they're moving forward.

“They have another young son and as you can imagine they are all now trying to come to terms with the loss of this little boy, as nobody would ever anticipate something like this would happen to you on Christmas.

“They want to say thank you particularly to the Lady Cilento Children's Hospital who have done an absolutely outstanding job ... the service and the care they've given has been nothing short of sublime.”

Adrian Murray, the driver of the truck, is expected to face charges for hitting the child.

Police have alleged Adrian was three-times over the legal drinking limit when he careered off the road and hit the young boy, before smashing through a hedge, water tank and finally crashing into a house.
