BREAKING: Reports Of A Needle Found In A Mango
A customer claims to have found a needle inside a mango at a Coles supermarket in west Gosford on the NSW Central Coast after buying it on Monday.
Chief Inspector Nigel Webber told told the Central Coast Gosford Express Advocate that the customer bought the mango on Monday before cutting it up and allegedly finding a small needle.
'Police have seized the needle for forensic examination. No persons were injured,'
This latest news comes after more than 100 reports of tampered fruit currently being investigated, many of which are thought to be fake or copycat cases.
A young boy was arrested in NSW yesterday after admitting to inserting needles inside strawberries as a 'prank'.
Meanwhile a boy in Western Australia who claimed he found a needle in a strawberry won't be charged by police due to his age.
WA Police Commissioner Chris Dawson told radio station 6PR:
'At the same time, while that one has been false, we clearly have ongoing concerns and so our message is not going to change, and that is that this is a serious matter,'
