Police Release Footage Of Gang With Rifles In Broadway

You may remember a few years ago when armed gunmen carrying an assault rifle and a pistol tried to rob an Armaguard van in the Sydney suburb of Broadway.

A guard was hit in the head and shots were fired into the van’s door at close range. However, the thieves only got away with a Glock pistol.

Now, three years after the robbery outside Broadway Shopping Centre in March of 2013, police have released confronting images to help find two of the attackers, who are still on the loose.

Two men, aged 23 and 29, were charged days after the incident, but authorities are still on the hunt for two others.

The 23-year-old pleaded guilty to armed robbery-related charges in June and will be sentenced in October while the 29-year-old, allegedly one of Sydney’s most notorious and feared armed robbers, is to stand trial next month on charges including armed robbery and attempted murder.

For legal reasons the men cannot be named.

Authorities have released the images in the hope that there may be other people who can assist with information on an Audi that was hidden inside an inner west apartment block for several months, prior to the robbery.

The Audi was thought to be involved with the crime, so the authorities are reaching out to the public.

“We are asking the community, particularly residents of apartment complexes in the inner west, to think back.

Can you recall the Audi being parked in your building’s carpark around that time?

“Anyone who has any information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, is urged to come forward.”
