Cassie Sainsbury Has Reportedly Reached A Plea Deal
Accused cocaine smuggler Cassie Sainsbury is being reported to have reached a plea deal with Columbian authorities.
Ms Sainsbury is currently facing 20 years in jail if she is found guilty of smuggling 5.8kg of cocaine inside 18 cases of headphones.
The Australian is now reporting that the 22-year-old’s deal may see her serve as little as three and a half years in prison.
The arrangement is expected to be released tomorrow, at which time a Bogota official will decide whether to accept it but, prosecution authorities told The Australian a deal had been done.
Ms Sainsbury has been behind bars in a maximum security jail in the Colombian capital Bogota since her arrest in April.
Sainsbury is a former personal trainer and was found with bags of cocaine in her luggage at El Dorado International Airport in Bogota on April 11.
