Judge Who Put Cartel Leader 'El Chapo' In Gaol Assassinated
Shocking video has emerged showing Mexican Judge Vicente Bermudez Zacarias, 37, being assassinated outside his home while he was jogging, at point blank range.
Warning: The below CCTV footage has been censored although some viewers may find the images distressing.
Judge Vicente Bermudez Zacarias halted the extradition to the United States of Joaquin 'El Chapo' Guzman, leader of the Mexican Sinaloa drug cartel, in March of this year.
The assassinated Judge also presided over appeals of other drug lords including Miguel Trevino, the former leader of the Zetas cartel.
The shooting took place near his home in Metepec, a town located about 43 miles from Mexico City, according to news agencies, and has prompted the Mexican president, Enrique Pena Nieto, to hold a news conference vowing an investigation by his attorney general.
"I have given instruction to the attorney general to take up this case, undertake the corresponding investigations and find those responsible for this terrible event," Pena Nieto said.
