Man Breaks Leg During Motorbike Accident
A man has been rescued from his property IN THE HILLS DISTRICT after falling from his motorbike.
The 38 year old broke his leg after losing control on the rugged terrain of his South Maroota property. He was left stranded and had to shout for help from his neighbours.
Authorities were unable to access the area by 4 wheel drive, so the man needed to be air lifted to hospital by an Air Ambulance helicopter.
According to Hawkesbury Local Area Command Duty Officer, Chief Inspector Garry Sims, the man may have spent the night injured in the elements if it weren't for the neighbour in this instance.
It's sparked fresh warnings from Police about the dangers of venturing off alone in rural areas.
“If you go out to do activities in rugged terrain, please let someone know your plans beforehand so emergency services can respond if something goes wrong." said Chief Inspector Sims.
“You may be in an area without mobile phone coverage, so please take precautions before heading off into the bush”
