Man Dies After Home Invasion In NSW

A man has died following an attack during a terrifying home invasion at his home in wake Macquarie this morning.

Emergency services were called to the home on Lonus Avenue at Whitebridge at around 2:30am on Monday where a 60-year-old man was found with a serious injury to his arm.

The man was treated at the scene before being taken to John Hunter Hospital but he died a short time later.

A crime scene has been established by officers from Lake Macquarie Police District and initial inquiries have commenced.

Police have said that three people, with their faces covered and armed with baseball bats and knives, broke into the home and attacked the man in his bedroom.

The deceased man’s two brothers were home during the attack but were not injured.

Police are currently investigating, along with the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad, to determine if the attack was targeted.
