Man Shot Dead At Sydney Unit Saved His Girlfriend's Life

A 40-year-old man who was gunned down at a Western Sydney Complex has been found a hero after it was revealed that he saved his girlfriends life during the ordeal.

Jimmy Alayan shouted at his girlfriend to get down as the gunmen arrived at the Villawood complex on Gundaroo Street, just after 9pm on Saturday evening.

"We were together, he had his arm around me and we were standing there," the man's girlfriend told 9NEWS.

"Then he said, 'babe, get down', and he just got shot instead of me.

"If he hadn't done that, I would have been shot for sure."

Paramedics found Mr Alayan with multiple gunshot wounds but sadly he died at the scene in his girlfriend's arms.

"It should have been me," she said.

"He saved me, 100 percent."

No arrests have been made in relation to the incident, however, police are calling for anyone with information about three men and a silver or grey sedan, which were seen in the area at the time of the shooting, to come forward.

Anyone with further information should contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
