Newborn Baby Crushed By Rooftop Tent South Of Sydney
NSW ambulance paramedics were called to a camp ground in South Sydney on Wednesday afternoon after reports that an 8-week-old baby had been crushed by a 50kg tent.
The infant suffered injuries to it’s chest and head after the rooftop tent designed to sit on top of a 4WD collapsed and fell on the child at 4:30pm in Helensburgh.
Emergency services confirmed that four crews, including a rescue helicopter from Bankstown airport were sent to the scene and the first crews arrived within three minutes.
The child was first transported by ambulance to Rex Jackson Park on Walker St where the helicopter airlifted the newborn to Sydney Children’s Hospital.
The infant is reportedly in a stable condition.
