Body Of Unknown Woman Washed Up On Sydney Beach

Police are seeking public assistance after they were unable to identify a woman whose body washed up on a beach in Sydney’s south on Tuesday morning.

The body was found floating in shallow water at Brighton Le-Sand beach at about 8:45am on Tuesday and is believed to belong to a woman in her late 60s or early 70s.

Police were contacted and a crime scene was established however so far investigators have been unable to determine the woman’s identify, how she dies and whether the circumstances are suspicious.

Police are now appealing for anyone with any information that could assist with the investigation to come forward.

The woman has been described as being of Caucasian appearance, slim and short build and with reddish-brown hair.

She was wearing a purple jumper, khaki shorts, red shoes and black reading glasses.

A post-mortem examination will be conducted sometime this week in order to determine the cause of death.
