Puppies Rescued After Being Trapped Underground

A litter of puppies have been rescued from an underground passage by police officers.

Five puppies that were hidden by their mother in an underground hideaway have been rescued by three police officers in Canada.

Officers from Rivers Police Service were at a rural property for an unrelated call late Monday afternoon when the property owner approached them about puppies that had been buried by the property's dog (the mother of the litter.)

The owner noticed one of the puppies emerged from the tunnels on her own and seemed dehydrated and weak.

After a two-hour long dig, the puppies were found and rescued after being pulled from more than a metre below ground.

All of the puppies are doing well and were put into foster homes after a checkup from the vet.
