Swimmers are being warned not to swim in the Brisbane River with an increase in shark sightings.
Signs highlighting the danger have been erected at popular spots with people being advised to be cautious while using boat ramps.
Talking to Quest News, Councillor Paul Tully said there had been reports of people being nipped as far up as Colleges Crossing.
Earlier this month a three metre hammerhead shark was caught at the mouth of the Brisbane River.
There has also been reports of bull shark sightings with one rower sharing a photo of the damage to their scull after an attack.
