Manly Fast Ferry workers set to strike

Sydney commuters, listen up!

Manly Fast Ferry workers are set to stop work on Wednesday, between 8 – 10am, the Maritime Union of Australia (MUA) has confirmed.

The strike is set to take place due to a pay dispute.

The union claims all ferry skippers have been casually employed since 2015, when the current seven-year contract was signed.

NRMA took ownership of the fast ferry operator in late 2017.

"All workers are asking for is to be paid decently and be treated with dignity and respect,” MUA Sydney branch assistant secretary Paul Garrett said.

NRMA have said they hope to avoid any cancellations on Wednesday morning, by rostering on all ferry masters not involved in the strike.
