Sydney Uber Driver Charged With Indecent Assault
A Sydney Uber driver, who is accused of following a young woman into her home at night before attacking her, has been charged with indecent assault.
Police allege that the 21-year-old woman had hired the ride just before 1am on Sunday while at a fast food restaurant in Kingsford and shared the ride with a male friend.
The woman’s friend was dropped off first and after he left the vehicle the 27-year-old Uber driver allegedly began making inappropriate comments towards her.
It’s then alleged that the man reached over and indecently assault the woman. As they arrived at the woman’s home in Hillsdale the drive is then believed to have followed her into the unit complex before assaulting her again.
The woman managed to escape the man without injury and contacted police. Officer arrested the man at a home in North Sydney at around 10am on Monday.
The man has been charged with two counts of committing an act of indecency and two counts of common assault. He has been granted bail and is due to appear before Manly Local Court on Thursday May 31.
