12YO Charged With High School Stabbing On Gold Coast

A 12-year-old schoolgirl has been charged after allegedly stabbing a fellow student in the chest at her Gold Coast high school.

Police say she stabbed a 13-year-old boy with a knife when he became involved in an argument between her and another girl on Tuesday morning at Coombabah State High School.

"My brother will be fine, but a few centimetres more and it could be a different story," she told the Gold Coast Bulletin.

"Any deeper and it could have punctured a lung and any further along and it could have hit his heart."

She will face five charges, including one count of wounding, and will be dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justice Act.

The adolescent is also being charged for common assault, going armed as to cause fear, possession of a knife in a public place and using a carriage service to harass or menace.
