The Drive-Thru Rule That Could See You Fined Up To $400!
We all know that using our phone behind the wheel is illegal and it can lead to heavy fine but many of us won’t know it also applies in the drive-thru.
Australian laws state that a mobile phone cannot be held while in a drive-thru and should not be touching any part of the drivers body, including their lap.
If caught breaking the rule , drivers in New South Wales can be fined five demerit points and ordered to pay $377, those in Queensland $391 and three demerit points, and in Victoria, four demerit points and a $484 fine.
The only instance we can use our phone is if they are in a secured holder, fixed to the vehicle and they not obscuring the vision of the road. Even then, we should be operating them with touch, just voice.
So, be careful this Easter!
