Triple Zero Emergency Calls DOWN After Telstra Network Issue
Triple Zero emergency calls are currently unavailable across major cities in Australia.
It’s believed that a cut Telstra cable in New South Wales has sparked the major outage.
Telstra have confirmed that a cable has been cut by an “unknown party” somewhere between Orange and Bowral in New South Wales at around 2am.
It’s reported that services were starting to be restored at around 5am and are progressively returning back to normal with the cause of the outage currently under investigation by authorities.
There have been intermittent problems with Triple Zero (000) this morning - if you require emergency assistance call Triple Zero FIRST, if this doesn't get thru, try the Police Assistance Line on 131 444, and calls will be diverted.— NSW Police (@nswpolice) May 3, 2018
NSW Police have issued a statement urging people to always use triple zero as a first point of call for emergency services, but anyone in need of assistance who can’t get through to triple zero should call the Police Assistance Line on 131 444.
More to come.
