Woman Punched In The Face On A Western Sydney Train
A woman is suffering wounds to her face after being assaulted on a train in Western Sydney overnight.
The woman and her attacker had a brief argument late last night as the train traveled between Canley Vale and Fairfield stations.
The man returned a short time later and sat next to an 18-year-old woman, before punching her in the face and hitting her with a tripod.
Witnesses rushed to the woman's aid and tried to restrain the man, but he managed to break free and fled the scene.
Police will now attempt to locate the man who was last seen walking toward Smart Street in Fairfield.
He is described to police as being of Asian appearance, about 30-40 years old, 165cm tall and off medium build. He was last seen wearing a black t-shirt, black pants, black shoes and was carrying a grey and blue backpack.
Inquiries are continuing and anyone who may have witnessed the assault and who has not yet spoken to police is urged to come forward.
