Young Girl Critical After Being Hit By Van In Western Sydney
A six-year-old girl has been left in a critical condition after being hit by a van yesterday in Sydney's west.
Emergency services, including a CareFlight helicopter, were called to The Horsley Drive in Smithfield at around 3:50 pm yesterday afternoon.
Reports say that the girl was found unconscious. She was treated at the scene before being rushed to Westmead Hospital with head injuries. She remains in hospital in a critical but stable condition.
The 55-year-old driver of the van was taken to Fairfield Hospital for mandatory blood and Urine testing but has not been charged with any offences.
Police are currently investigating whether the six-year-old ran out in front of traffic. Anyone with information is being urged to come forward.
