Suspected Human Remains Discovered Under Unit Block In Bondi

A gruesome discovery at a block of units in Sydney’s east has uncovered bones, believed to be that of a human, sparking a major police investigation.

The suspected foot and ankle bones were uncovered on Wednesday morning underneath the units on Ramsgate Avenue in Bondi. Police were notified and an investigation was opened at about 10:15am.

The bones were discovered during renovations when a 23-year-old construction worker was clearing out a wall cavity underneath the entry stairwell. Speaking to the ABC, the man said that he immediately suspected that the bones were human.

“I was clearing out rubbish and then came across this hand or foot, it was hard to know what it was, but it looked like it was from a human,” he said. “It was really shocking. I’ve never seen anything like that before. It made me feel sick.”

The bones are now undergoing forensic examination to confirm whether or not they are human remains. Police are currently treating the discovery as suspicious.

Anyone with information is being urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
