Married At First Sight’s Elizabeth – and the rest of Australia – has spent the past few days slamming her new ‘husband’ Sam for reportedly ignoring her voicemails, but it appears there may be a strategic reason behind it.

Former MAFS star Telv has taken to Instagram to weigh in on the controversy saying: “I can guarantee you that the producers would have told him he wasn’t allowed to make any contact with his wife because you’re not meant to talk to them.”

“If you’re not around each other they don’t want you to talk to them when you’re not on camera,” he explained.

“So don’t be too harsh to Sam, he’s done nothing wrong… f**k you experts!”

In Wednesday’s episode, Elizabeth was left inconsolable after Sam failed to contact her after flying to New Zealand to attend his ex-girlfriend’s mother’s funeral.

A day later, Sam appeared on TODAY insisting his apology to Elizabeth at the dinner party was completely authentic.

“I know, it is terrible. I went away for the funeral, I basically had a lot of phone calls going on and stuff like that and my focus wasn’t on Elizabeth at all. It should have been,” he said.

And that infamous voicemail?

“I didn’t get it, didn’t check it, nothing. I was completely off the radar,” Sam replied, before admitting that he “regretted” not prioritising his new wife.
