Numerous people across the globe have woken up unable to receive or send messages using a popular social media application.
It’s being reported that the Facebook Messenger feature is currently facing an outage on both mobile applications and desktop world wide.
According to an Outage map, New Zealand, Australia, the UK, the US and many parts of Europe have been hit with the outage.
This does not appear to be the case for most other people across the globe who have since taken to Twitter to vent their frustration at the outage.

According to Aussie Outages, most of the problems are to do with connection to the server, receiving messages and being able to log in.
The issue appears to have occurred just after 6AM this morning AEST.
Facebook has not yet commented on the outage and it is not known when the issue will be fixed.
More as we get it.
