ABC’s long-running children’s show, Giggle and Hoot, will finish up after its 11th season.
The announcement was made on Friday after Jimmy Rees (Jimmy Giggle) and ABC came to a mutual agreement.
In a statement, the ABC said that they and Rees would “opt out while they are still on top”.
“Giggle and Hoot has had a remarkable production run over more than a decade, capturing the hearts and minds of generations of preschoolers and their families,” Libbie Doherty, Head of ABC Children’s, wrote.
“After celebrating the show’s 10th birthday, Jimmy spoke with us and we both agreed the time was right to opt out while we were still on top,” she wrote.
“We shot our last episode of Giggle and Hoot yesterday,” Rees posted to Facebook on Friday.
“Last night myself and all the cast, crew and production team celebrated a phenomenal last 10 years.”
Rees added that he was moving into a new phase of his life and was excited to take on a new journey in his career.
He also said that Jimmy Giggle and Hoot will continue to hit the road throughout the year in their live show.
The 11th and final series of the show will continue to air across late 2019 and early 2020, with the entire series remaining on the ABC KIDS, including the app and iview.
