Dramatic footage has been captured of the moment a toddler was rescued after falling under a Sydney train yesterday morning.

Three passengers at the station in Sydney’s inner south have been hailed heroes after they bravely jumped into action and went to the young child’s aid.

It’s believed that the toddler stepped off a train at 9:15am at Wolli Creek station before falling down the gap between the train and the platform.

According to 9 News, the toddler’s mother was trying to get another child in a pram onto the train at the time of the incident.

The train guard immediately alerted the train driver and a duty manager from the station along with three male passengers rushed in to help.

The heroes jumped onto the tracks to retrieve the child, who had managed to crawl underneath the train and out the other side.

Following the terrifying incident that could have easily been much worse, Sydney trains thanked staff and customers for helping. They also reminded passengers to be vigilant at all times around trains.

“This would have been an incredibly distressing situation for any parent,” Chief Customer Officer Suzanne Holden said.

“Thankfully the toddler was unharmed, but incidents such as this serve as an important reminder that the gap between the train and the platform can vary across the network, and our staff are always happy to help if you require assistance.”
