It’s believed tens of thousands of Australians have had their private banking info compromised.

According to Seven News, “phone numbers, names, BSB and account details linked to PayID were all breached in recent days.”

Westpac are urging any concerned customers to contact them

“If you have any concerns about your account details, please call us on: 132 032 or visit your local branch so we may review your accounts for any unusual activity, eg unauthorised payments or Direct Debits you don’t recognise,” Westpac tweeted.

“We’re able to assist you to change any passwords or put in place extra security for telephone banking.

“We advise our customers to please be wary of any attempts by a third party to gain information about your banking credentials or passwords.”

Customers from Bank of Melbourne, BankSA and St George were not impacted but the other big four banks could be “vulnerable.”
