A Total Fire Ban was issued for New South Wales as we entered a State of Emergency with dangerous bushfires burning across the state.

Parts of Sydney were also given a catastrophic fire danger warning, which is the highest possible level.

And so it is almost unfathomable that NSW Police actually caught four people breaching the total fire ban over the past two days, including one young child who allegedly committed arson.

The first instance occurred just after 4pm on Monday, when a 27-year-old man allegedly lit a small campfire at Fowler Reserve, Wallacia, in order to boil water for tea.

NSW Police and Rural Fire Service were called to the scene and the man extinguished the flames, but he was issued with an on-the-spot $22000 infringement notice

Following this incident at about 7pm on Monday, RFS members called police to a home in Braidwood Drive, Prestons, following reports that a man was burning fence failings in a cylindrical barbecue.

A secondary blaze was caused after embers from this fire fell to the ground and ignited more palings.

Both fires were quickly extinguished and a 35-year-old man was used an infringement notice.

At 5am on Tuesday, a 46-year-old man allegedly lit a small coal barbecue at a home in Danny Road, Lalor Park.

Fire and Rescue NSW extinguished the fire and NSW Police arrested the man for failing to comply with a total fire ban order and breach of bail.

The fourth person caught was a 9-year-old boy, who allegedly lit a small grass fire in long grass behind Sullivan Street, WOrrigee.

Police and fire crews attended and extinguished the blaze. The young boy, who was with a group of other children, reportedly admitted to lighting the fire with a blowtorch.

He was issued a warning under the Young Offenders Act.

Police are also currently investigating whether a fire in the NSW Upper Hunter Region was deliberately lit, according to 9 News.
