You could be flying to London in the same time it gets from Melbourne to Sydney.

There are plans for a new spaceport in Cornwell, England if the space agency gets regulatory approval, the Telegraph reports.

Virgin Orbit (Virgin’s satellite launching arm) would build the facility to allow passengers access onboard a Virgin Galactic suborbital human spaceflight.

The horizontal spacecrafts fly beyond the Earth’s surface but below the range in which they would orbit.

“For Britain to be the first spaceport in Europe to be able to offer that service because we have the legislation in place, because we’ve sorted out our infrastructure, that will be huge,” British Astronaut Tim Peake said.

Virgin are still tweaking their vehicles but it’s believed the port could be up-and-running in just five years time.

If successful, it’s believed they could cut travel times from Sydney and Melbourne to just 90 minutes.
